Women Empowering Women

About The Boutique

Our mission is to offer you stylish, socially conscious clothing, accessories, and gifts in order to support and serve women who are victims of sex trafficking, poverty, and social injustice.

The Breaking Free Boutique seeks out talented women artisans and entrepreneurs, both locally and from around the world for our product lines that include an ever changing selection of handbags, jewelry, art, bath & body, and more. When you purchase one of our lovely gifts you not only support the woman or girl who crafted it but a 100% of the profit from every sale goes directly back to programs and services at Breaking Free. Breaking Free helps women and girls right here in the Twin Cities who are survivors of sexual exploitation.

ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS:

Breaking Free products (always marked "Breaking Free") are made by women in the Breaking Free Program. These products will eventually include a line of all-natural, eco friendly bath and body products, candles, and limited edition jewelry.

Ember Beads are made by women displaced by war in Uganda whose only options are to work in the rock quarry, be exploited by local traffickers, or if they are fortunate, be signed up with this ministry. They are able to care for their entire families by handcrafting beads out of recycled paper, then dipping them into a coating and drying them in the sun. They are made into beautiful necklaces and bracelets and each piece is one of a kind.

Freeset bags are made from women rescued out of the red light district of Calcutta, India. 150 women are employed making bags out of jute, fair trade cotton material, and accented with brightly patterned recycled saris.

Starfish Project jewelry is made by women and girls rescued out of brothels in Asia. Each of these pieces is hand made using genuine materials like onyx, labrodorite, freshwater pearls etc. and they are all beautifully made and very affordably priced. The Starfish Project employs approximately 35 women who are now able to provide for their families through meaningful employment. The Starfish Project also provides opportunities for women to heal and grow through counseling, vocational training, language acquisition, family education, access to health care, and through housing.

New product lines/individual products will be added on a regular basis- make sure to keep checking back for new items!
